Pelucid

A Rock-Hard Glossy Topcoat

Pelucidtm is a water-clear single-component topcoat for application on fiberglass, wood, and other surfaces as well. It will dry to a rock-hard finish that won't crack, chip, or peel, and it is strengthened by exposure to moisture, unlike most other coatings.

Suggested Uses:

Finish coat for hardwoods, especially flooring
Exterior finish for wood and concrete
Protective coating for fiberglass
Exterior coat for wood paneling, marine wood finishes
Finish coat for marine woods, bar tops, and furniture

Surface Preparation:

Surface should be dry and free of foreign matter.

Pelucid will flow out and brush strokes will disappear.

Pelucid may be brushed without thinning and should spray without thinning in most spray systems.

Thin only with Xylene if needed.

Two or more coats should be applied as desired; follow directions on can.

When spraying, thin coats should always be applied.

If your first sprayed coat appears not to cover, wait a few minutes for it to "flow out" and blend smoothly.

Pelucid is compatible with most painted surfaces, because its solvent carrier is not highly aggressive.

Do not apply Pelucid to a tacky or uncured surface.

Use natural bristle brushes for best results.

QUESTIONS and ANSWERS

WHAT IS THE DRYING TIME OF PELUCID?

That depends on the ambient humidity. Pelucid will dry faster in high humidity, although rapid drying is not beneficial. With ambient humidity at approximately 40%, Pelucid will dry to the touch in about 2 to 3 hours.

WHAT ABOUT COVERAGE?

Average coverage will exceed 100 square feet per quart depending on thickness applied and the surface Pelucid is applied to.

DOES PELUCID GIVE OFF DANGEROUS FUMES?

Yes, as do all solvent-based coatings. Follow directions and warnings on can regarding safety applications. Organic vapor particulate respirators, such as 3M #8709 NIOSH/MSHA approved, should be used when spraying Pelucid.

CAN PELUCID BE BUFFED OUT AND WAXED LIKE OTHER CLEARCOATS?

Yes, but wait several weeks after application to make sure it is fully cured.

IS PELUCID FLAMMABLE?

Yes, it has a flashpoint of 90ºF. When using Pelucid (or any solvent-based product), do not smoke and keep your work away from open flame. After cleanup, soak soiled rags or towels in water to eliminate possibility of ignition.
